DryJoist is ideal for new construction or the remodeling of existing outdoor structures and provides a lifetime of strength and durability. DryJoist is capable of spanning 8’ without the need of a support beam and provides structural support for deck boards every 4”. Installation requires standard deck tools and the lightweight aluminum joists are easier to handle than traditional pressure treated lumber.

The most common component, the 8” DryJoist is used to construct the majority of the joist structure. Its profile is nearly identical to the Double Receiver with the exception that it has both the ‘Flange’ and ‘Receiver’ design. This interlocking design permits the component to repeat or neighbor beside profiles such as the 4” DryJoist for deck board attachment at 8” / 16” or 24” on-center.

The 4” DryJoist is interchangeable, or can be used in conjunction, with the 8” DryJoist to accommodate for a variety of different deck widths or for odd width spans.

The Double Receiver’s profile is similar to the 8” DryJoist with the exception that both sides have a ‘Receiver’ design. To begin installation, this component should mate with an Outer DryJoist via ‘Flange/Receiver.’ Installation can then progress so that a ‘Receiver’ can mate with the application’s final / last profile {Outer DryJoist} at the opposite side of the install’s starting point – providing a ‘finished appearance’ along the sides or edges of the deck. Please refer to the Outer DryJoist’s component description for additional information. This component can also be used to change the orientation of the ‘Fastening Plane’ aka the attachment area for your deck planks.

The Outer DryJoist is the starting point for your installation; functioning as the perimeter / outermost profiles for your application. Its design incorporates a ‘Flash Receiver’ to secure either standard or pre-bent flashing; providing a finished appearance along the Rim Joists or outer edges of the deck. Builder boards can be secured overtop of the flashing to further detail / trim along the deck’s edge. Please refer to the DryJoist Double Receiver’s component description for additional information.

The angles of neighboring Dryjoists are locked together with a Joint Cover; this prevents water from entering ‘Screw Channel.’ This joist also creates a structural truss which gives DryJoist much of its strength. The Joint Cover should never be pierced or compromised by fasteners – it shields the only possible route for water seepage to provide uninterrupted waterproof coverage for the entire square footage of the deck.

Inside the water channels on all DryJoist components, there is a continuous architectural design feature, ‘Anchor Rails.’ These ‘Anchor Rails’ permit ‘Anchor Clips’ to attach at any location within a water channel, providing an additional and secure area for fasteners without compromising the waterproof design. Especially suitable to install any standard top-mount rail posts, including Wahoo Rails, a rail foot or pedestal mount can span and attach at either side of a structural support. Anchor Clips provide rail post installation at 4” on-center at any location on the deck’s surface and achieves a strong, solid connection. #14 SS fasteners can be drilled through the deck’s surface boards and directly into the Anchor Clips; this eliminates the need to penetrate the water channel, integrates the rail into the deck’s structural components and creates a fast, efficient installation.
